Apr. 27, 2011: Hatena Featured Artist: Qcumber (id:Qcumber)

f:id:aaron:20100303191246g:imageWelcome to the Hatena Featured Artist section of our blog, where we introduce Flipnote creators from around the world.

We post the Hatena Featured Artist every week on Wednesday, and hope to introduce a variety of different artists that will inspire and entertain  you.

Be sure to check here every week to see some of the most amazing artists on Flipnote Hatena. Maybe we’ll even feature you someday!

Today’s Hatena Featured Artist is Qcumber (id:Qcumber) from the Americas region.

How do you get ideas for your Flipnotes, and how long does it usually take you to create them?

I usually get ideas when I hear a good song, chat with my friends, or just when I’m at school. It takes me a while to create what I consider a “good” Flipnote. I always change my mind, so I tend to start making it over again a few times.

What hobbies or interests do you have (besides making Flipnotes)?

I’ve played soccer for a few years, and I play a few instruments. Sometimes, I try to teach myself popular songs I hear on the radio.

Who are some of your favorite creators on Flipnote Hatena and why?

Wow, there are so many people I want to mention!

  • K66Gunso (id:KeroroGunsoFN) is such an amazing artist/animator.
  • OH-Gumdrop (id:OH-gumdrops) creates the most mind-blowing Flipnotes.
  • koo (id:koochinko) is so good at putting emotion into her Flipnotes.
  • iBloop (id:iBloop) makes the cutest Flipnotes with her songs and ukulele.
  • LilJaney (id:lil-janey) has a unique art style, and has a great sense of humor.
  • IzZiE (id:skittlez112) creates some of the best music Flipnotes on Hatena.

…and so many more, but I can’t put them all on here.

Do you have any advice or tips for other Flipnote creators about how they can improve their skills?

Try to concentrate on how things move in real life. Imagine how the Flipnote will look before you start. It’s best to have a plan instead of making it up as you go. Also, don’t rush yourself when making a Flipnote; patience plays a big role in animation quality. That’s something I have to work on myself….

What kind of Flipnotes would you like to create in the future? Are there any new things you would like to try?

I would like to try smoother animation, higher speeds, creating original soundtracks, and over all: better quality.

What are some additional features that you would like to have added to Flipnote Studio and/or Flipnote Hatena?

Maybe an easier way to find creators and flipnotes from the Nintendo DSi; I can never remember command search codes. Possibly a weekly poll could bring up more ideas and the general opinions of creators.

Is there something you would like to say to the Flipnote Hatena community?

Thank to all the kind people who have added me, starred my flipnotes, and left nice comments. It really boosts my motivation when I hear positive feedback. Again, thank you so much! ❤

New Flipnote Studio for Nintendo 3DS

I have confirmation that there will be a new Flipnote Studio for the 3DS called Flipnote Memo.

Flipnote Memo will be free, just like the DSiWare original. Flipnote Studio is a brilliant animation tool. Just imagine what you’ll be able to do with it in 3D!

Using Flipnote Memo, Miyamoto says they’re trying to make it easier to share animations online.
That’s about all I know about Flipnote Memo for now. I’ll post any more updates I can get!
